The University of Chicago was founded on July 9th, 1890 on the basis that the university will be one day regarded as the best University helping students from all backgrounds and together create a never-ending legacy. The University is set up on 217 acres in Hyde Park. The University of Chicago has got more than 11 Million Volume of books in its library which makes the 10 largest research universities to have these books in  North America.

University land was donated by the Marshall Field, a hefty donation of $600,000 from John D. Rockefeller along with a contribution from American Baptist Education Society made it possible to set up the University of Chicago. Legendary architect Frederick Law Olmsted’s designs were used to shape the campus. Those designs were used for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition which was at a close walk from the university at that time.

Willian Rainey Harper who was the President of the University at that time envisioned the University to be a splendid research university which would be a combination of both English-style undergraduate college and a German-style graduate research college. Harper at that time was the first president with a new college in his hand with a great historic foundation to support.

There are two Nobel Peace Prize Laureates which also includes Barack Obama, who taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School as a Lecturer from the year 1992 to the year 1996 and as a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004 and received the prize in the year 2009.
